"I don't want to choose someone to spend my life with because the sand in the hourglass ran out…I don't want to go down a line of tall, powerful men and choose one just because," Kaya explained, her skin prickling with a soft wrap of goosebumps. "I want love to find me…I don't wish to chase it anymore, I want it to come out of the shadows and find me." Within the palace walls and guarded by her older sisters, Princess Kaya has spent her days quietly daydreaming, untouched and overlooked by the confusing and suffocating politics of the royal court. But with the King growing older and foreign vultures trying to find a way into Avolaria, her days of daydreaming are quickly replaced with suitor meetings and discussions about her future all under the guise of expectation that she'll willingly give in and allow herself to be married off for the sake of political protection. Kaya refuses to give into these attempts at an arranged marriage, desperate for love to find her and blossom naturally. What Kaya doesn't realize is that the love she is desperately searching for happens to be lingering within the shadows of the night, just as unaware as she is. Or the Princess Kaya/ Vampire Kamijo Royal au.
