Fics like sweet decay

One day, a Striga attacks. Sends the entire town reeling from disease, until finally they’re the only ones left to stop it. One day, the dead rise from their graves, and the forest quakes under their feet, and— Slowly, they realize just how close to death they’ve been treading all this time. The world shifts on its axis— the wind sounds out the first notes of a fugue, and together they hold their breaths, waiting for the awful change. One day, William dies. And as he drags himself out of the Whispering Woods, pale chrysanthemums bloom in his wake. — The time in between William’s death and his decision to join the Prime Defenders, and what it means to be a teenager in a world that has fundamentally changed without you.
