Weeks into the school year, Harry headed to dinner expecting the usual routine: sitting with his housemates and enduring his constant headache. But as he entered the Great Hall, the magic shifted. Everything went black, and he fell—landing on something unexpectedly soft. Around him, others panicked, but Harry stayed calm. His magic said the place was safe, and Harry always trusted his magic. A crowd surrounded him: some faces he recognised, some he knew only from photos, and a few looked like younger versions of people he knew. An ethereal woman explained she had brought people from 1996, Harry’s sixth year, and 1976, James Potter’s sixth year. In time, she could also restore the dead who had not moved on, those who had escaped punishment, and those whose minds were no longer whole. The catch was that everyone had to watch her chosen one’s past, present, and future—and that chosen one was Harry. The thought terrified him; parts of his life were never meant to be seen. Still, if this revealed the blocks, compulsions, memory charms, or anything else hidden in his mind, it might finally help set things right.
