Fics like Smoke and Mirrors and a Very Real Corpse

"It was 4am when somebody knocked on Vimes's door. By itself, that wasn’t unusual. What was unusual, though, was the fact that when he opened it, the man on the other side was Rufus Drumknott, soaking wet and wearing a facial expression which could almost be described as genuine fear. Commander Vimes, the clerk said. Apologies for the uncivilised hour, but the Palace feels the need to request your presence. Immediately. Vimes was deeply grateful that he had thought to pull on a pair of trousers before answering the door, because that look in the clerk’s eye was enough that he didn’t bother to get the rest of the way dressed. He grabbed his sword and the closest armour to hand, and set off blearily into the rain." OR: Vetinari gets kidnapped, and Vimes had to chase down the culprits before it's too late. Unfortunately, the situation may be more complicated than it seems.
