Fics like Doesn’t Take A Detective

Before last weekend, Peter Spankoffski—or, as he was known to the public, Spider-Man—had been a low-level superhero, helping citizens on a local level. Things like stopping petty robberies, breaking up small fights, and even helping people carry their groceries. The work wasn’t unimportant, but the risk was low. He liked it that way. However, Pete had just defeated his first supervillain, whose alias was Nighthawk. The villain had been detained, unmasked, and identified as Solomon Lauter, mayor of Hatchetfield. Pete had—albeit by complete accident—discovered Solomon’s place at the centre of a weapons-smuggling ring. He’d constructed a suit that would allow him to fly, and attempted to use said suit to hijack a plane full of weapons, so he and his associates could distribute them to their own allies. Besides being behind the mask of Nighthawk, Solomon also happened to be the father of Steph Lauter, Pete’s classmate and the girl he had a massive crush on. __ OR: Pete tries to gauge Steph’s feelings on her father’s arrest.
