Robby realises with a lurch of abject horror that there’s no recognition in Jack’s eyes. Zero. Jack is looking at him like they’re strangers. He had thought he’d been having a bad day before, but somehow, realising that the cause of his gay awakening doesn’t remember him is a whole new factor of awfulness. In a way, it’s nice to realise that there are still depths to his shitshow of a life that he hasn’t explored yet. Robby has his gay awakening at 24 with a guy who doesn't bother sticking around. Thirty years later, he's just finished saving a patient from a near-fatal GSW when he's dragged from work, shoved into a car and told that "the boss" wants to have a word. Robby doesn't expect this guy to be Jack. He doesn't expect to be offered a job working for the mob, either.
