Fics like Blue Lion on a Field of Crimson

'But why does it have to be me? Surely there are other former members of the strike force who would jump at the opportunity to raise a child.' 'Because you can keep her safe, and by doing so, perhaps Dimitri's spirit will finally be put to rest.' They put a dagger on Felix's lap. It's a blade he recognises well. He had given it to Dimitri before his trip to Duscur, its twin rests inside his cloak. Attached to it there is a note, but Felix decides not to read it. Whatever the Boar's last words were, he knows he does not deserve to know them. He lost that right long ago. Another scoff. 'Does he haunt you too?' 'All my students do,' they say. 'But the hands of time cannot turn back far enough to prevent what happened. All there is for us is to repair whatever is left.' Or... Five years after the end of the war, Felix is tasked with raising Dimitri's now orphaned child. Is this his opportunity at redemption, or is Dimitri's child to become another ghost haunting Felix for the choices he made ten years ago?
