“'So, you’re us from ten years in the future?' Jaemin asks, speaking up for the first time since their older counterparts appeared. Jeno is embarrassingly happy to see that he’s no longer fixated solely on older-Jeno, because his attention has now shifted to how older-Jaemin is holding older-Jeno’s arm in exactly the same way that he’s holding Jeno’s. He must be trying to figure out whether their future selves are still together, Jeno thinks, which is understandable, but feels unnecessary – just from the way they exist so comfortably in each other’s space, it’s clear that they are. And Jaemin is not jealous of the way Jeno smiles at younger-Jaemin like he’s the most precious thing in the world, but just for good measure, he smacks Jeno’s arm lightly and whines, “Stop thinking little Jaemin is cuter than me.” Jeno laughs softly, and then the full strength of his affectionate gaze is focused on Jaemin instead. 'I could never.'” Or: 2016 Jeno + Jaemin meet 2026 Jeno + Jaemin, as told from the past and the future.
