Fics like Alternative Paw-ment

Howdy's antennae snapped upright, twitching as he processed the news. He still didn't know what the joke could be, but played along with the bit, "Barnaby B. Beagle is outta the funny business!?" he cried, throwing his four hands up in theatrical dismay. Barnaby leaned in closer, his large, plushy body pressing against the edge of the counter. His eyes flickered with a mischievous glint that didn't quite match his faux despair. "I know, I know! It's a tragedy, Howdy! I dunno what I’m gonna do! I feel completely hollow inside. Like I've got nothing left to give…” He sniffled dramatically. Barnaby cleared his throat, suddenly no longer that devastated, "Since I'm fresh out of funny business, I was wonderin' if you had any other... alternative currencies in stock?" His tail gave a single, hopeful wag behind his stool.
