Fics like Pivot

"I could've sworn I'd hit you." Clark's hands shake. He doesn't understand. His head is foggy, thoughts slow, as he tears his gaze away to look up at the wrecked bridge. "I should be dead," his voice trembles as he speaks. "Why aren't I..." The world starts to tilt, darkness swallowing the edges of his vision. The man on the riverbank struggles to sit up, shouting in alarm as Clark pitches sideways, trying futily to catch him. "Hey! It'll be alright, we'll figure it out. Just calm down--" The rest of his words are lost to unconsciousness. What if, in his delirium, Clark Kent confessed to Lex Luthor at the bridge that he had been hit by Lex's car? What if, in learning there was something new and freakish about him, he was scared to tell his parents, and never got told he was an alien? What if the whole world pivoted so Lex Luthor was the one Clark trusted at the outset of the tale of Smallville?
