Fics like protect, don't risk or complicate

He liked the older brother. While Hu Yetao slept next to him with tears held back at the corners of his eyes, he tucked a strand of hair behind his ear and nervously kissed his cheek. He swallowed as the sight of his slightly parted lips and warm breath invaded his senses and his heartbeat sped up. It felt good to be taken care of, but as time went by he felt confused and insecure around him. It was normal that, growing up during adolescence, he would have that kind of dreams and wake up uncomfortable in the middle of the night, but even so it was hard to face reality after that. To accept that what happened in the dream involved someone who could only see him the way he saw his little sister. To accept that he could only love him in the way that he should. And that even hinting, even indirectly, at something about his feelings would only add more weight to his shoulders. The only thing he could do was be careful as time passed faster and faster, until the day of goodbye.
