Fics like someday i'll need your spine (to hide behind)

Ilya watched as Roger Crowell took the stage, standing in front of the microphone. He said a bunch of words that didn’t mean much at all to Ilya. The Boston Raiders executives were already on stage with him, including the general manager. The camera cut to where Shane Hollander was sitting with his parents on either side of him, each holding a hand. He looked terrified, like he wouldn’t be picked. Like some kind of fluke accident would happen and he’d be sent to a Timbits team instead. “For the first round, first overall draft pick, the Boston Raiders are thrilled to pick Shane Hollander from the Kingston Vidals.” In a world where David Hollander becomes a pro hockey player, him and Yuna have Shane a few years later. The best night of his life also quickly transformed into one of the worst. It's a good thing he's got the great Ilya Rozanov as a captain.
