Flashes of his sister, purple morning glories in hand, the heady scent of his mom’s beef stew, the pond sparkling gold in the spring, steam rising from the melting snow. And then in summer, the ocean with his dad. The pull of the waves. The smell of salt on the wind, pushing at the sails. The rock of the boat. How the air can be so dry over such a vast body of water, he doesn’t know. But every year they spent days living on that ship, where Jack’s dad took him to a cliffy island with… … A boy. Auburn. Green, green, green— double or: childhood friends to lovers hiccup and jack get hit by canon and then i fix it about... oh. just a few years later. cue the cheesy reunion.
