The worst thing is, Azune looks younger like this than he has for a long time. In the years since Thjazi first brought him home to Hal, it has become all too easy to view him as first the Lieutenant, the Arcane Marshall, the loyal and obedient and pragmatic soldier. But the way he’s staring up at Hal, he looks just like the wide-eyed child he was all those years ago. Maybe still is, on the inside. If anything, his breakdown should have triggered Hal’s paternal instincts, made him want to wrap Azune up like he would Shadia or Hero or Alogar and promise him that everything will be okay in the end. Instead, he feels utterly possessed by the urge to drag him onto the chaise and fuck him until there’s no room left in his head for anxiety or fear. Hal thinks he should probably feel guiltier about that.
