“Armand.” “Yes?” “I’m not gonna marry you,” Daniel says firmly. “Sure you are,” Armand states. “Because if you don’t, your dreams of touching the lives of millions with the written word are dead. Santiago will fire you the second I am gone. Guaranteed. You’ll be out on the street, looking for a job. That means all the time that we spent together, the lattes, the cancelled dates, the midnight snack runs, were all for nothing and all your dreams of being a published author will be gone.” ‘Holy shit I’m being blackmailed’, Daniel realises with abject horror. Armand looks at him with a smug smile like he knows he’s won. “Don’t worry, after the required allotment of time, we’ll get a divorce and you’ll be done with me. But until then, your wagon is hitched, to mine. Ok?” Armand goes back to sorting out paperwork and averts his gaze from Daniel, indicating that the conversation is over. _________________________________________________ Based on the 2009 movie ‘The Proposal’.
