Fics like a conspiracy of grief

"You understand what will happen should the throne go to Aerion, do you not?" "I…" You began to speak, to sugarcoat and to deny but then you remembered his instruction to speak plainly. "Yes, I do." "But should my eldest son have issue, they would be my rightful heir." Maekar supplied, towering over you even from the distance. You scowled in confusion. "But I just said-" "I know what you said. I hoped beyond hope that Daeron had done me at least this one kindness." He interrupted, voice firm. He blew some air through his nostrils, reminding you briefly of a childhood imagining of a dragon with smoky nostrils. "As it stands, we have a limited window to correct the situation." or, maekar needs to resolve the succession problem in his household and the reader (daeron's widow) is just the woman to help.
