Buck is back at the 118. Physically, at least. After everything that happened, things between him and the family he once considered his own are worse than ever. They barely speak to him, and every attempt Buck makes to find his way back to them is met with distance. So he keeps his head down. He works. He takes extra shifts. He tries to prove that he still belongs. But while everyone is busy ignoring him, Buck's health begins to deteriorate. What he thinks is stress turns into something far more serious. A doctor's appointment changes everything when Buck is diagnosed with leukemia. And suddenly, the one thing he doesn't know how to do is tell the people he loves. And this time, Buck decides he won't be anyone's burden.
