Fics like Insurance Policy

“You look good,” Flash said, swishing a red solo cup full of water back and forth. “Pfft. No, I don’t,” Petra rolled her eyes. “Yeah, you do.” “You’re only saying that because you refuse to make eye contact with me.” “Oh fer’ cryin’ out loud,” Flash said, turning to her, locking eyes with her, speaking with the raw, blunt exasperation he always used to. “You look good, Pet." OR: Once upon a time, Petra Parker (going by Peter at the time) and Eugene 'Flash' Thompson hated each other. Now, at their ten-year high school reunion, the Spectacular Spider-Woman and the newly minted Agent Venom strike up a friendship. But when Flash loses his VA benefits at the same time Petra gets an offer for health insurance from the Bugle, she hatches an idea: a civil union of pure convenience, mutually beneficial, no strings attached. So long as neither of them catch feelings, but it's not like that would ever happen. The only thing more ridiculous than that would be if Flash was already in love with her, but c'mon, can you even imagine?
