Fics like Metamorphosis and Other Bad Jokes

X-MEN AU Charlotte was pushed headfirst into a volatile world where every odd was stacked against her from the start; she struggles to survive as everything changes around her, all because of a little genetic mutation... After being on the run from "the lab coats" and her dark past for multiple months, she stumbles upon a remote cage-fighting bar. Who and what she finds inside the glowing walls flips her entire world and identity upside down. With her newfound grumpy travel companion, who is just as monstrous as she feels, she begins to learn how to navigate and accept her powers, exploring her identity and the group she hesitates to associate herself with. With quite a few bad jokes thrown in along the way.... Will she realize she's not alone in this world? Will she finally discover that this turbulent society may offer her a chance to feel like she actually belongs, like she's normal? Will "the lab coats" finally track her down? ORRRR just maybe her heart may even be pulled in two directions by two entirely contrasting men. (Ahem, cherik...)
