Fics like Pursuit of Jade - Gender Swapped

A revered yet ruthless general falls in love with a poor pig butcher. Except this time the brooding war criminal is a woman and the fierce yet golden-hearted butcher is a man. The story is more or less the same, yet the characters are confronted with very different choices. The uncle with a gambling addiction poses no danger to Fan Baoyu, but the looming threat of conscription does. Xie Hui loves her sort-of fake husband, but this isn't a world where she is free to make her own choices. Power dynamics are flipped and so are the genders. Things will get a bit gay because that's the only way the story makes sense without turning the world into a matriarchy. But like, also for funsies. Gender swapping of characters is largely done at random based on whether or not I think it would be interesting.
