The bite mark at the base of Stiles’s neck—where his shoulder met the curve of his throat—burned with a dull, hollow ache. It was Derek’s mark, the exact shape of his teeth healed into a pale, permanent seal of their bond. Except now, the bond on the other side of it was pitch-black and dead. "Scott, please. Listen to me," he choked out, tears finally breaking past his lashes. "Derek is dead. They killed him. And Peter is gone—he’s locked in Eichen House! Don't you see what's happening? It’s Theo! He’s doing this!" Cornered with no way out, Stiles took a step backward into the empty air and threw himself off the cliff. As he plunged into the abyss, gravity pulling him down toward the jagged rocks below, a brilliant, blinding electric purpleburst into Stiles’s eyes, illuminating the dark canyon wall. His voice echoed through the air, resonant and powerful with the ancient force of his dying Spark: "If I can do it all again... I would never trust Scott. I'll make sure this never happens." Stiles slammed into the rocks below, and the world went pitch black.
