There was no former tense readiness to fix everything, no hardness either. She was simply there, near the instrument, as if she had found a place where she was calm. Not abstractly, not as a fact, but physically…as if the air suddenly became thicker, and her heart beat faster. Sayeon was wrong. Not about burning out which was true. But in thinking that her detachment was the only way not to harm anyone. She wasn't protecting Ryujin from her fatigue; she was simply erasing her from her life, day by day, word by word.
