Fics like Control

Mario and Peach are heading deeper into Junior's fortress. Yoshi is going for reinforcements. Luigi is supposed to be going with him. Supposed to be. Because Luigi knows what happens when Mario and Bowser meet on opposite sides of a problem, and this time Bowser's son is right in the middle of it... Months spent getting to know Bowser have also left Luigi with an inconvenient problem of his own: he can't quite fit the Koopa King back into the simple category of enemy. Not after everything he's seen. Not after everything they've shared. So Luigi does something that feels perfectly reasonable for approximately three seconds: He turns around. He isn't going back to fight Bowser. He just wants to reach him before the fighting starts. How difficult could that possibly be?
