Fics like As before I went under (and it’s pretty peaceful in the deep)

When Clay's behaviour suddenly changes, Trent finds himself stuck between his concern and his struggles to help Clay and their relationship. Besides not knowing how to help Clay, he doesn't understand what all the changes mean. Clay's struggling and Trent is trying to help him stay above the water that threatens to drown him and Bravo are starting to notice the changes too. Clay's spent his life hiding who he is and where he comes from and he's torn between revealing the truth and fearing the consequences. When Clay finally reveals the truth, it changes both of their lives for the better. Adapting to the new reality Trent finds himself is easier than Trent could have ever predicted and bringing Bravo into the secret doesn't seem so scary after that. or, I love mermaids and wanted to write a mer!Clay au (or merman, depending on your preference).
