Emily’s expression slowly rearranged itself. “You.” “Yes.” “As my girlfriend.” “Yes.” Emily looked genuinely baffled. Andrea’s confidence faltered for the first time. “What?” “In what universe would anybody believe that?” OR In the span of three minutes, three catastrophic events take place in Emily Charlton's life. First, her ex-husband Frank announces his engagement to a woman called Francesca. Second, Emily agrees to attend a double-date dinner to celebrate said engagement, despite not dating anyone. Third, for lack of -literally- any other option, Andrea ends up being her date to said dinner.
