Dean and his wife, Lisa, split up after he discovers she has been unfaithful with a coworker. Without a second thought, Lisa leaves Dean and their son, Ben, to start a new life with her now-husband in another state. Completely devastated but determined to take care of the boy, Dean moves to his home state, to a small, cozy house in Kansas. It is there that he first locks eyes with his new neighbor: a man with brown hair and piercing blue eyes. He soon discovers that this intriguing neighbor is an English major. What begins as a sheer coincidence leads to their paths crossing again and again. Castiel seems particularly curious about Dean, always finding an excuse to strike up a conversation or casually taking out the trash at the same time Dean does. Dean doesn't make much of it. Maybe that’s just how Castiel is, or perhaps he’s simply curious about the new neighbor who just moved into the neighborhood. Either way, Dean doesn't give it much thought. Right?
