Fics like Absence Makes the Heart

Uncle Gwayne leaves Oldtown, and over the course of many months, Ormund exchanges more letters with him than Daeron has ever exchanged with his own mother. He cannot imagine what they have to say, as they rarely saw eye to eye, and Ormund oft used Gwayne as a proverbial scratching post more often than not. He does not think that his cousin and uncle have ever been apart this long in their entire lives, so perhaps they do not know how to not talk. Daeron wonders if Gwayne is happy out there in the world, free at last. ...and he wonders if Ormund resents that.
