He was trying to keep a firm leash on the alpha that lived in his hindbrain, to remind it that he and Robby were just friends, that this was not a mating offer. Robby had been very firm that he never wanted an alpha, and Jack could respect that. Could live with it, even. His stupid, love-sick heart would get with the program one of these days. Dennis and Trinity share a nest, I've heard them talking about it and you know that despite their being opposite designations, they're purely platonic." Jack wanted to point out that just because Dennis and Trinity shared a nest, it didn't mean that all the kids do so. Dennis and Trinity would probably surgically attach their hands if given the opportunity. Jack, however, was not about to make that (or any other) argument because he wanted in Robby's nest.
