Fics like How You Play the Game

This certainly wouldn’t be the first time Troy attended a teammate’s birthday party against his will… But he had a feeling that a game of laser tag would be a lot more bearable than the types of parties his shithead rapist of an ex-best friend used to throw. Troy clenched his jaw for a moment, willing the unpleasant thought away. He wasn’t about to let himself fuck up Luca’s birthday by getting all mopey and weird about his old life back in Toronto. And besides, Troy had new friends now, didn’t he? That’s what his new teammates in Ottawa had become, right? His friends? Maybe? A few of them, at least? God, Troy sure as fuck hoped so. Because otherwise, what the hell was he doing standing here dressed like… this? — Or: Troy joins his teammates for a game of laser tag and realizes just how much his life has changed in the year since he came to Ottawa.
