Lampert was put-together. A real classy critter since the day he was built. That’s what made today feel so strange for Infected. At some late hour of the night, his phone wouldn’t quit buzzing. The vibrations rattled him barely, although from the view of someone half-asleep as he, it felt like he was on a boat being thrown by a storm. His obscenely high brightness blinded him against the black of his room. Missed call, 6 minutes ago. Missed call, 5 minutes ago, thrice. Missed call 4, 3, 2, 1, liftoff minutes ago, grouping together to some 20 notifications. Lampert paced around outside, his stern composure shattered. High winds made the tears streaking his face burn, a minty sensation that travelled to the side of his thumb due to how he was keeping his sobs silent. One hand gripped the strap of his crossbody tightly, as if he expected a bag of such weight to fly away in the wind. He was pleading every god he could think of to kill whatever part of him let him hear. His parents yelling distantly, unaware utterly of the absence of their son. The persistent ringing of his speaker… fuck, he was beginning to lose hope.
