Fics like [there is still time]

Jean looks even younger like this, covered in grime, face smeared with blood as the weight of her powers press into him. Peter wants to reach out, to soothe away the fear-desperation-grief he knows all too well, but he can’t even lift his hand. It takes all his energy to breathe around the burning hot pain buried deep inside of him and the increasing pressure of Jean – Jean’s desperation echoing in his head, a mangled chorus of not again not again not again. Jean’s hands pressing down on the exit wound, finger slipping in all the blood and catching on the edge of the wound. Pain and pain and pain. Jean’s powers, a thick cloud of nothingness taking shape, crawling through the hole in his torso, searing shut broken arteries and forcing air into his lungs. --- (Peter and Jean in the aftermath)
