Fics like Dinner Date (Unofficial)

Candlelight is a strange thing. It doesn't have the honesty of daylight, nor the practicality of electric light. It's alive — flickering, hesitating, drifting between two faces like a hand that's afraid to land. In candlelight, everything softens: contours, shadows, the small motions you'd normally overlook — the half‑second pause of fingertips on a menu page, the brief shift of gaze when lifting a water glass, the beat of silence that hangs in the air after a sentence like *"you're the third"* lands and settles. The candlestick at Angelo's is brass, the candle white, the flame swaying slightly in the December night air. Across the table sits a man whose skin looks unreal in the warm glow, whose eyes catch something in the firelight that doesn't belong to the daytime. He's looking out the window. He's watching the suspicious figure across the street.
