Fics like Silenced Instinct

After breaking up with Kelly, Max finds himself facing an approaching rut alone for the first time in years — alongside a scent he hasn’t encountered since his karting days. Charles has spent his entire adult life doing everything he can to ensure no one sees him as an omega — suppressing his heats, silencing his instincts and learning to treat his own body as merely another thing that must be kept under control. Max is convinced that he tried to court him when they were teenagers and was rejected, while Charles never even realised those gestures had been courting at all. When their paths begin to intertwine again after years apart, small favours turn into deliberate courting, shared journeys into safe nests, and simple presence into something neither of them can continue to ignore. Max must learn that patience doesn’t mean silence, while Charles must understand that needing closeness doesn’t make him weak. In a world that has always tried to make decisions for omegas, Charles will have to discover what he truly wants for the first time — and whether he can allow Max to stay.
