Fics like The Moons State of Mind

Seventeen-year-old Nova has one goal: escape. Escape the parents who call his identity a phase. Escape the town that only seems to see his mistakes. Escape the future everyone else has planned for him. The answer is music. With his fiercely loyal boyfriend, Damirion, and his chaotic best friend, Jemini, Nova pours every ounce of frustration, hope, and heartbreak into a rock band that's barely holding together. All they're missing is a bassist. Enter Emberlynn. Quiet. Guarded. Incredibly talented. What begins as one reluctant rehearsal soon becomes something none of them expected: a band that doesn't just make music—it gives each of them a place to belong. But as friendships deepen, old wounds refuse to stay buried. Family expectations, painful secrets, broken relationships, and the pressure of growing up threaten to tear them apart before they ever have the chance to be heard. Because sometimes the hardest battle isn't finding your voice. It's believing it deserves to be heard. A heartfelt coming-of-age novel about found family, first love, identity, and the music that saves us when nothing else can.
