Beneath Dazai’s skin, the festering thing that had followed him from headquarters shifted with slow, diseased hunger. It wanted Chuuya embarrassed. Angry. Isolated. There was ugly affection somewhere inside that desire, distorted beyond any useful name. Dazai felt it as one might feel rot deep within a tooth: invisible from the outside, tender when touched, poisoning everything around it. Chuuya belonged to him. With him. Dazai had found him beneath the cliff, exposed the paranoid betrayal waiting inside the Sheep, and dragged him into the Mafia by the throat. He had learned Chuuya’s body under combat conditions, learned the cadence of his decisions and the weight of his unconscious form after Corruption. He knew what Chuuya became when stripped of power, pride, and all the people who called his strength their own. Nobody else had earned the right to take what remained. or: dazai has already separated chuuya from one family. it’s insulting to have to repeat himself.
