Fics like let me step a little bolder

“Welcome to Camelot,” the Prince greets them. “I wish to thank you for leaving your homes to journey here. I truly do hope in the time you're here, we can understand each other's differences and help unite Camelot once more.” Prince Arthur finishes his little speech and looks at them expectantly. “Are we meant to clap?” Merlin mutters. - At the end of the Great Purge, twenty five years ago, Uther Pendragon banished every sorcerer to the Perilous Lands and outlawed magic in Camelot. No sorcer has stepped foot in Camelot since. That is until Prince Arthur's twenty fifth birthday, where he makes a royal decree inviting three sorcerers to Camelot, in an attempt to put aside old prejudices and unite the people of Camelot. Merlin is one of the lucky sorcerers volunteered - (forced) - to go and he's skeptical to say the least. It doesn't matter how distractingly pretty the Prince is, there's no way he actually means what he says about honour and justice and being a different ruler to his father. Only the longer Merlin spends in Camelot and the closer they become, suddenly he isn't so sure.
