Fics like Kosulya

"You are very boring quarry, Shane." He heard Ilya’s voice, and felt a press on his chest. Ilya placed his heavy black boot there. "Too slow to hunt with borzaya. She'd catch you in seconds." “I had to stalk you like you are kosulya,” he continued. “Watch you, learn your patterns, wait you out. Very boring, I hate this kind of hunt. Very noble by the way, but I like the chase. Waiting — not so much.” Shane let out a small gah as Ilya pressed down harder, the air driven from his lungs. “But kosulya is very cautious, you know? Alert to movement, keen to scent. You on the other hand are not so talented." Ilya gradually lifted his boot, easing the pressure, letting Shane breathe again. He was breathing hard, still weighted down by the boot on his chest. The permission to breathe felt generous. “What does…” mumbled Shane between ragged breaths, “...this word mean? Kah-suh-lyah?” “Small deer. Pretty like you.” OR Ilya Rozanov used to go hunting with his father. Ilya still remembers everything he taught him.
