Fics like Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rainbow Heroes of Hope

A normal day napping under the Alolan Sun suddently turns into an otherworldly adventure for Ash and Pikachu. Now, transformed into a hybrid between a Minun and a Plusle and devolved into a Pichu, with nothing but a vague message to go off of, they have to figure out how to save a world of only Pokémon where hope seems to be a fleeting dream. (Or: I put Ash and Pikachu in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity)
