Fics like Don't tell Sam!

After the noodle incident and the bridge, Michael knows he should stay away from David. Naturally, he keeps sneaking out to meet him. Sam knows something is wrong. Michael is wearing sunglasses indoors, sleeping all day, lying badly, and smelling faintly like smoke, salt, leather, and bad decisions. With Nanook as his reluctant investigative partner, Sam begins tracking Michael’s increasingly suspicious nighttime behavior. Meanwhile, David gets bolder. He appears outside the Emerson house. He shadows Michael on the boardwalk. He gets close enough for Sam to notice, close enough for Nanook to growl, close enough to make Michael panic every time David smiles and asks if he should introduce himself properly. Michael insists he does not want David anywhere near his life. David keeps proving he is already in it.
