Fics like Orchid Flowers Grieve Me

It was quiet for a moment; the only sound was Shen Qiao’s breathing getting steadier and calmer as he forcibly pulled himself together. He was always so good at remaining collected, Yan Wushi thought, watching him. Was it to save face in front of others, or because he himself could not face the vulnerability of showing one’s own feelings? Finally, Yan Wushi broke the silence, still circling his hand on Shen Qiao’s back. “What did you dream about?” Shen Qiao stilled, and though his expression didn’t change, a flood of fresh tears silently streamed down his face. “Sang Jingxing.” -:- Shen Qiao wakes from a nightmare and suffers a flare up of his old condition, leading he and Yan Wushi to unpack some of his lingering fears from the past, and to affirm their trust in one another; with words, and in other ways.
