Fics like Necessity

“Are you proud of yourself, Hector?” Count Dracula seethed, all bared whetted canines and none of the elegant richness of his voice that used to shake him from the inside out. Hector reduced him to his bare essentials, stripped him of his pretenses and revealed all of his true ugliness. “It has been three years since you had stabbed me in the back, and you haven’t changed at all. Filthy, ungrateful liar.” And he would wear those names as proudly as he used to parade the crest on his back. “My apologies for breaking your heart, Lord Dracula,” Hector smiled genially. “Despite your best efforts, I have always been one of those lowly humans you despise so.” A variant of the last conversation Hector and Dracula had, after the vampire was felled by his former favorite general.
