Fics like A Gentler Romance

Bryakhimov, 1876. Count Gavriil Vorontsov, a young Guards officer visiting a comrade on the Volga, expects nothing from a provincial night at the opera until he sees a girl in a two seasons old gown who watches the stage the way soldiers look at home. Larisa Ogudalova is the most beautiful woman in town, and the poorest. Every man admires her. None of them can afford to. A story about what happens when one of them decides he can. Inspired by the 1984 film "A Cruel Romance" (Жестокий романс) and Ostrovsky's play "Without a Dowry". No canon knowledge required.
