Fics like Is This a Kidnapping?

At eleven, Tim Drake tried to blackmail Batman into making him Robin. Batman made it clear that he did not want another Robin, and certainly didn't want Tim. Which is...fine. But Batman tattling to his parents about Tim's hobbies and getting him sent to a boarding school overseas feels a little targeted. Now, he is back in Gotham under the conditions of 1) not bothering the Waynes, 2) not blabbing about his home life, and 3) following through on "familial duties." So, why is Dick Grayson trying to talk to him at a gala? Or: Tim misunderstands adults, Dick is concerned, Bruce is trying very hard to adopt this feral child, and Jason is still Tim's favorite superhero.
