Fics like A Matter of Proximity

Hanzo Shimada arrives at Watchpoint: Gibraltar expecting suspicion, distance, and careful silence. Cole Cassidy gives him none of that. Instead, Cole treats him like a person: casually, warmly, persistently, and with an infuriating amount of nicknames. At first, Hanzo finds him irritating. Then unsettling. Then familiar. Then, slowly, impossible to avoid. As Overwatch rebuilds around them, Gibraltar becomes less like a military base and more like a chaotic home full of team rituals, group chat drama, betting pools, movie nights, kitchen noise, and younger agents who notice absolutely everything. Cole and Hanzo’s sharp-edged banter turns into routine, routine turns into trust, and trust turns into something neither of them is ready to name. Unfortunately for them, everyone else already has. A slow-burn found-family romance about ordinary kindness, emotional denial, casual touches, old-married-couple allegations, and the terrifying realization that being seen is not always the same as being trapped.
