Fics like Do You Love Me Yet?

That one gorgeous day, when he and Ivy lay tangled together in the sun, he was able to forget his troubles completely. For the first time in months, flesh pressed against his without shriveling into something horrid. It was like he was finally brought back into himself, allowed to feel just a little more human. But it didn’t happen again. Despite how often Peter dreamed of it, both asleep and awake, Pam never offered. Janet was not like Pam. She was not so driven or stubborn, and she lacked the charismatic draw that seemed to fuel Poison Ivy. Her charm was more subtle, found in her kind loyalty and hidden intelligence. He would never have mentioned the theory to her, though he couldn’t stop thinking about it, since the first time he watched flowers bloom from her skin. No, that would have been horribly dangerous and terribly selfish. Too much like the man he was trying desperately to leave behind. Yet, Janet was good. Peter didn’t need to say anything at all.
