In the distant future, technological advancements allow people to become ‘net divers and explore cyberspace. Most people undertake ‘net diving as a hobby, and so did Sorey once. But after losing his diving partner, Mikleo, three years prior during a dive exploration, he blames himself for the accident and loses his passion for diving. That is, until one day when he receives an encrypted message bringing him back into the ‘net. Near the site where he once lost Mikleo, he meets a mysterious program and learns that those who have been lost to cyberspace can retain themselves as AI.
