Fics like Hey, Kid

“I spent a long time wondering what I could leave behind for you. An object? Something written? None of those options felt right; none of them felt like enough. Then, one cycle, it came to me. Almost by chance, I stumbled across some recordings I’d made over the years. A sort of diary, except it was always meant for you. I never told you about them because they were private -my own thoughts, my moments of frustration- but now I want you to have them. Every single one. After all, the best thing I can leave behind is the memory of my love.” Another pause followed, and Drift had to fight with everything he had not to give in to the pressure building behind his optics. “So, Drift, happy listening. I’d like to tell you just how much I’ve loved you, and how I know I’ll keep loving you, even afterwards… but I’ll let the recordings speak for me.”
