Fics like No Place Like Home

Bucky Barnes escapes HYDRA with nothing but the clothes on his back, fractured memories, and one goal: keep running. Peter Parker is six years old, newly orphaned, and hiding in the same abandoned warehouse. Bucky tells himself he’ll leave the kid behind as soon as he’s strong enough to move on. Then HYDRA finds them. Forced to flee together, the two spend the next three years crossing continents, sleeping wherever they can, staying one step ahead of the people hunting them. Somewhere between safe houses, train stations, and quiet nights beneath unfamiliar stars, a broken soldier and a feral little spider become something neither of them ever expected. Family. When Steve Rogers finally wakes in 2011, he expects to find a world that has forgotten him—and a best friend who died seventy years ago. Instead, he finds Bucky alive, healing, and raising a ten-year-old boy who sticks to ceilings, hoards shiny things, and has already decided Steve belongs to them. Now all three of them have to learn that surviving isn’t the same thing as living.
