Fics like Highway Reverie at Exit 9

In 1977, across the America, Sunghoon sets out on a road trip in a foreign country with no real destination in mind. Somewhere along the way, he meets Sunoo, a charming drifter who seems to belong everywhere and nowhere all at once. As the miles pass and the two grow closer, they begin to unravel the parts of themselves they’ve spent years trying to outrun. For some journeys, they aren’t about where you’re going but instead about who you become along the way. Because when someone really sees you, when they accept you without demanding explanations or apologies, it feels a little like coming home for the first time. They come to learn that maybe belonging isn't about a place at all. Maybe it's about a person. Or: two complicated boys, one endless highway, and a summer that changes them both forever.
