Fics like Undertow

Tomioka Giyuu hasn't gone near open water since Sabito drowned — until the night he throws himself in after a half-drowned bird and finds himself pulled back out by something that shouldn't exist: a merman with purple storm-coloured eyes, a voice like sea glass, and absolutely no intention of sticking around to be thanked. Sanemi doesn't get a say in the matter. He's already thinking about the human he can't stop thinking about, and thinking never once in his life led him anywhere sensible. A bargain with a sea witch buys him legs, a deadline, and a voice he doesn't get to keep. What he doesn't bargain for is Rengoku's unconditional hospitality, Mitsuri's terrifying strength, Obanai's best friend paying an extremely steep price for loyalty, or the fact that the human he came ashore for is the exact same man he pulled out of the sea months ago — and has no earthly idea it's him. A Little Mermaid AU about grief, found family, terrible flirting, and learning that love doesn't have to cost you everything to be worth choosing anyway.
